PAGASA: 'Katring' won't directly hit N. Luzon

typhoon katringMANILA, Philippines - A government weather forecaster said Friday that a new weather disturbance spotted near the Marianas Islands may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Saturday night and hover near Northern Luzon, which is still reeling from the effects Typhoon Juan.

Bernie de Leon of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), however, said that the weather disturbance, to be named "Katring" if it enters the PAR, will not directly hit the country.
