Viloria Hopes For Best Against Soto Viloria_2

Comebacking Brian Viloria can’t wait to get his hands on Mexican Omar Soto.

On Friday night at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig, Viloria gets that chance as he rumbles with Soto in a 10-round flyweight scuffle with the Fil-Am puncher desperately seeking a resounding win that would catapult him back in contention for a world title.

During Friday afternoon’s official weigh-in at the Crowne Plaza Galleria in Pasig, Viloria came in exactly at the fly limit of 112 lbs, while Soto tipped in at 111 ½.

International referee Ferdie Estrella will officiate the showdown. The three judges are Edwin Sese, Ricardo Garcia and Epifanio Almeda.

The last time Viloria fought – before Filipino fans at the Cuneta Astrodome in January – he surrendered the International Boxing Federation light-flyweight throne to Colombian Carlos Tamara via 12th round stoppage.

But now that he is back in his natural weight class of 112 lbs, Viloria said things are going to be different.

“This has been a weight class I feel very comfortable fighting,” said Viloria, who was born in Honolulu to Ilocano parents.
