A member of the Harbour Centre-RP 5 that won the gold medal in the 2007 SEA Games, Fernandez was a second-round selection by Purefoods but never got the opportunity to showcase his shooting prowess as he spent most of his rookie season on the bench.
The six-foot-one ex-National University shooting guard played all of his nine games in the Philippine Cup and contributed a total of 18 points and was 2-of-21 from the three-point zone.
