MANILA, Philippines – Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista promised that he will prevail on Saturday when he exchanges blows with Alejandro “Zorrito” Barrera at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Lahug, Cebu City.
According to Rene Bonsubre, Jr. of PhilBoxing.com, Bautista said this during a public workout at the Entertainment Plaza of SM City Cebu on Sunday.
The Filipino pugilist even said that he will win by decision or knockout.
Bautista (28-2-1, with 21 knockouts) added that he has prepared well for his fight against Barrera (20-3, 13 KOs), the cousin of Mexican boxing legend Marco Antonio Barrera.
The Bautista-Barrera fight is the main event of the “Philippines versus the Rest of the World” fight card.
Bautista was joined by Jimrex “The Executioner” Jaca (30-6-3, 15 KOs) and Milan “Milenyo” Melindo (21-0-1, 6 KOs) in the Sunday public workout.
Jaca will face Mexican Pipino Cuevas, Jr., (14-5, 12 KOs) the son of the legendary boxing champion Pipino Cuevas, while Melindo will fight South Korean Jin-Man Jeon (13-3-1, 3 KOs).
“This will not be our victory but the victory of the Filipino people,” said Melindo.
Other Filipinos who will see action on Saturday are Florante Condes, Jun Intor, Jimmy Sescon and Wilbeth Loberanis.
The “Philippines versus the Rest of the World” event will be shown on ABS-CBN.
