MANILA, Philippines—Anthony and David Semerad, San Beda’s Filipino-Australian twins, lead the touted rookies who have been given the green light to play in the 86th NCAA basketball season.
The NCAA management committee approved recently the rosters submitted by the nine participating teams in the country’s oldest varsity league, which fires off June 26 at the Araneta Coliseum.
“We’re blessed with good rookies this year,” said San Beda coach Frankie Lim. “We’ll see what they can do this year.”
San Sebastian, fielding a practically intact roster, kicks off its bid for a second straight crown against Letran in the season’s opening game at 2 p.m.
San Beda, last year’s runner-up, clashes with Jose Rizal University at 4 p.m.
The NCAA eligibility committee, chaired by Frank Gusi of host San Sebastian, said a school may still question the eligibility of an opposing team’s players any time during the season.
The Lions also tabbed Filipino-American rookie Kyle Pascual, a former member of the former RP Youth Team.
