MANILA PHILIPPINES-Far Eastern University star guard RR Garcia knows very well that defending champion Ateneo will do anything to destract him and keep him inneffective when they clashed for the UAAP mens crown starting on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum.
"Markado ako ngayon," said Garcia," Tyak sa akin nakatutok yung depensa nila, pero sana matulungan ko pa rin ang mga teammates.Lahat gagawin ko para manalo kami.
Garcia who set to be crowned as this year MVP,averaged 16.8 points 3.4 rebounds and 2.6 assist and 1.0 steals to lead the Tamaraws to the best record after the elims at 12-2.
But in the final,he expects he will have a hard time dishing out those numbers against since he's certained Ateneo will make necessary adjustment to minimizehis production.
Ateneo coach Norman Black said stopping Garcia is very hard but he hopes to to limit his output for his teams.
"I dont expects we can stop RR,I dont thing going that happened," admitted Black," He takes a lot of attempts and they really looked for him on offensive but we have to play good overall defense to win".
Black is likely to put either Kirk Long,Eric Salamat,Eman Monfort to defend against Garcia.
"I will try everybody.Al of the guards will probably get at shot at him." Black said".Whoever does the best job will be the one assigned but still a difficult task he's their go to guy.
Garcia, however, remains unfazed knowing he has some teammates who can help him bring FEU to the promise land again.
"Kahit anong hirap, gagawin ko para manalo kam.saka andyan mga kasama ko.hindi lang ako ang dapat isipin ng Ateneo,'" said Garcia.
Aside from Garcia also expected to provide firepower for the Tamaraws are Rookie Of The Year Terrence Romeo,Aldrech Ramos,Paul Sanga,JR Cawaling and Reil Cervantes
