MANILA PHILIPPINES-The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) on Wednesday submitted the 12 man lineup of the Smart gilas Pilipinas to the Philippines Olympic Commitee (POC) for this year Asian Games in Ghuangzhou China.
The country's Olympic body gave the SBP until Wednesday afternoon to submit its official roster,or face the possibilty of missing the event.
The Smart Gilas lineup includes from teams skipper Chris Tiu,Mark Baroca,Mac Baracael,JV Casio,Dylan Ababou,Japeth Aguilar,Greg Slaugther,Jason ballesteros,Marc Lassifer,Aldrech Ramos,and the two PBA players Asi Taulava and Kelly Williams.
The POC working committee,headed by Chef de mission Joey Romasanta,will work on the acreddition of the 12 players together with the rest of the RP delegation.
However,Smart Gilas Serbian mentor Rajko Toroman said that they can still change a player if its necesarry because of injury or other reasons.which may have effect on the performance of the team.
"We can do that,I think before the team manager's meeting we can replaced a player if he's injured," said Toroman,who is also the project director of Smart Gilas Pilipinas,Which also preparing for the FIBA-Asia Championship next year in Beirut,Lebanon,the qualifying event for the 2012 London Olympics.
"The tournaments is two months away,and we dont know if something well happen to one,two or maybe five players,Somebody migth be injured,so there is really a possibilty to change ," Toroman added.
Butch Antonio,deputy project of director of Smart Gilas,said that if theres a player who will late addition,they will apply for seperate accreditiation,which will be coursed through the POC working committee then to the Asian Games organizing committe.
The Asian games is set to November 12 to 27
One of the players who could be replace is Lasiffer,the 6 foot fil american guard who is currently in the United States recovering from a dislocated hip.
He last played for the National Stankovic Cup in Bierut Lebanon last August.
Toroman has yet to decide the third PBA player even sourced revealed that high on his last are either Sol Mercado or Gabe Norwood both of Rain Or Shine
