Manila, Philippines - With a practically intact lineup, the thought of seeing virtually the same Ateneo Blue Eagle Squad next year is really scary. Only Eric Salamat and Jason Escueta will reportedly be graduating but the rest will still be around.
Kirk Long, Ryan Buenafe, Nico Salva, Justin Chua and Eman Monfort lead the way for the 2011 UAAP wars. To beef up their lineup, they will even have Greg Slaughter eligible to play after serving the one year residency requirement.
And then there is Kiefer Ravena, the young and promising cager who has been making a name for himself in the junior division, following the footsteps of his father Bong Ravena.
Looking further, Ateneo may as well be an overwhelming favorite for the next 3 years or so. And future players are still in the air at that.
Hence, the Ateneo Blue Eagle dynasty has just started. Who will be the worthy opponent? DLSU? FEU? NU?
Perhaps the only thing that remains to be resolved is who will stop the Ateneo Blue Eagles from dominating the UAAP basketball tournament in the coming years. Any guesses?
Ateneo coach Norman Black could care less!
