MANILA, Philippines— (UPDATE) The mother of actress Judy Ann Santos, Carol Santos, disclosed on Thursday that her daughter gave birth to a baby boy after a fast and relatively easy delivery.
“She was brought to the hospital (Asian Hospital in Alabang, Muntinlupa) at 11 a.m. and by 5:51 p.m., she had already given birth,” related Mommy Carol, as she is known in show biz. “I had just arrived at the hospital when the baby boy came out.”
In an earlier interview, Ryan Agoncillo, husband of Judy Ann, or Judai as she is known, told the Inquirer that his wife was thoroughly prepared for the delivery and motherhood.
“She took yoga and breast-feeding classes. She took birthing classes, too. She didn’t want to go through a Caesarean delivery,” Agoncillo said. “I sometimes would sit in in her classes.”
Her daughter gave birth normally, Mommy Carol told the Inquirer in a phone interview Thursday.
So confident was Judy Ann about a trouble-free delivery, Agoncillo said, that she also planned to have an audio-video home entertainment system installed in the delivery room. “She wanted to watch movies while giving birth.”
Mommy Carol said her daughter didn’t get to watch movies in the delivery room, though.
The couple named the baby boy Juan Luis, nicknamed Lucho. “Or little fighter,” Agoncillo explained earlier. “He’s named after my dad and me.”
Agoncillo’s dad is named Luis Vicente, while the new father’s real name is Christopher Lou.
“Juan is from their adopted daughter Yohanna or Joanna Louise,” Mommy Carol explained.
Agoncillo said Judai also personally took charge of decorating the nursery. “It’s her pet project. She collaborated with my stylist, Gerry Santos, who’s also an interior designer.”
The couple also made sure that adopted daughter Yohann, 6, was part of all the preparation. “We don’t want her to feel jealous of the baby. We want her to be part of the excitement,” Agoncillo said.
Mommy Carol gushed: “We are all excited. Ryan’s mom is here, too. The entire family is here at the hospital. The baby looks like Ryan, we’re told. He’s ‘balbon’ (hirsute). Judy Ann got to breastfeed the baby [last night].”
