One of the greatest tag team rivalries in the World Wrestling Entertainment is The Hart Foundation against the Rockers.
The Hart Foundation
The original Hart Foundation began in 1985, when Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, already managed by Jimmy Hart, who joined up with his brother-in-law Bret "Hitman" Hart to form a villainous tag team.[3] According to Bret, the tag team originated after he turned down the "Cowboy" Bret Hart gimmick he was given, claiming that he did not really take a liking to it. He then suggested to WWF management that he would much prefer to be teamed up with Jim Neidhart. Management first laughed at the idea, but months later just as Bret was about to quit, he was given what he wanted: he was allowed to become a villain and was partnered up with Neidhart and Jimmy to form the Hart Foundation.[4] The name Hart Foundation was already used to refer to the stable of wrestlers managed by Jimmy Hart, but with the success of the new tag team came to be associated solely with the Neidhart/Hart team and their manager, who all had Hart in their family names.
The Rockers
The Rockers were a professional wrestling tag team consisting of Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty that teamed from 1985 to 1992. The team worked for Central States Wrestling, the American Wrestling Association, Continental Wrestling Federation, Continental Wrestling Association and the World Wrestling Federation. In 1992, the team had a violent “on screen” break up that helped propel Shawn Michaels into the singles ranks with the “Heartbreak Kid” gimmick that he still uses today. After the break up Michaels and Jannetty had an on again, off again feud due to Jannetty leaving the WWF on more than one occasion. In 1996, Jannetty teamed up with Leif Cassidy to form The New Rockers but the team never achieved much success in the WWF and ended later that same year.
In 2005, the Rockers reunited for one night but nothing more came of it because Jannety was released by WWE. In 2006, Jannetty was slated to return and work an extended angle, teaming with Michaels against Vince and Shane McMahon but only made two televised appearances before being released from his contract.
