Kenichi is the leader of Voltes V team. He is also the oldest from the three sons of GOU Kentarou. He pilots the Volt Crewzer, the head section of Voltes V and also coordinates the whole movements and attacks of Voltes V. kenichi is a serious man, strong willing, high tempered choleric guy, and also the most mature person in the team. He is a kind hearted young man, a man of friendship, but sometimes his rage breaks out seeing the childish behavior of his younger brothers, Daijirou and Hiyoshi. Megumi often complains to him that he was acting too hard to his brothers, especially little Hiyoshi. Kenichi likes riding motorcycle and fights skillfully with his gun. His uniform is red.

Ippei was formerly a cowboy. He pilots the Volt Bomber, the arm section of Voltes V.
Ippei was orphaned while still very young. His mother sacrificed her life when the family was attacked by a pack of wolves so that her sick husband and son could live. Ippei's father later died of illness.
Not knowing how his mother died, Ippei grew up disliking all mothers. Ippei earned a living for himself by doing odd jobs. He learned to take care of himself and to fight to keep what was his. He then joined the Rodeo. There, he learned how to ride horses and how to use a whip. Ippei found his greatest friend in his horse, Eiffel (Aifuru) [in English version: "Alpha"]. The two were inseparable. With Aifuru, Ippei won the World Rodeo Championships three years in a row. One day, Earth International Defense Force asked Ippei to join them. He refused, but they forced him. For the first time, Ippei and Aifuru were separated.
Ippei is an easy going guy, quite an opposite of Kenichi. He don’t like complicated things and want to view everything in a simple way. Although easy going, Ippei can get mad easily. Ippei likes horse riding. He can do lasso and fight with whip. Ippei's uniform is blue.

Daijirou is a big, strong guy. He is Kenichi’s little brother, the second son of GOU Kentarou. He pilots the Volt Panzer, the torso section of Voltes V. Daijirou is a martial artist, a Judo-ka. Of all the Voltes Team, only he and OKA Megumi are trained in martial arts so both of them often practise together. He can fight with empty hands or using his favorite weapon, the battle staff (Bo). His uniform is dark green.

Hiyoshi is the youngest of the Voltes V team and also the youngest of Dr. GOU Kentarou’s three sons. He is the little brother of Kenichi and Daijiro. He pilots the Volt Frigate, the leg section of Voltes V. Because he is just a kid, Hiyoshi loves to play especially everything that has to do with water. He is also good with electronics. He made himself a cute red octopus robot named Takko (in English version: Octo One). Takko helps Voltes V in many occasions.
As a hobby, Hiyoshi liked to play with remote-controlled boats. With Voltes V, he became the team's expert at fixing and repairing Voltes V whenever it broke down. Hiyoshi is good in swimming, underwater fighting and strategy. His talent in electronics is surely inherited from his father. His Volt Frigate even equipped with Magic Hands, the repairing tools. His uniform is light green.

OKA Megumi is the only girl in Voltes V team, and she happens to be pretty, too. She is the only daughter of Chief Commander OKA, the Earth Defense Army chief. She pilots the Volt Lander, the feet section of Voltes V.
Megumi is sort of becoming the balancer in the male dominated Voltes team. She became a mediator when Ippei had clashes with Kenichi about his mother and later with Dr. Hamaguchi about his horse. She also defended Hiyoshi when she thought Kenichi was too hard on him. Because of her martial arts abilities, she was selected to join Voltes V. Today, she protects and defends Earth against the Boazanian invaders.
Megumi is an energetic, lively, and lovely girl. She always wear red ribbon on her greenish blue hairs. Megumi is trained in the secret way of Ninjutsu and she becomes a Kunoichi (female ninja). She can fight using various kinds of weapons, like long sword (katana), chained sickle (kusarigama), but her favorite weapon is the throwing star (shuriken). Her uniform is a combination of dark pink and yellow.
