Chris Timberlake is a professional basketball player in the
Philippines. He was drafted in the 8th slot (7th overall) in the 2009 Philippine Basketball
Association's 2009 Rookie Draft by the Ginebra Kings, but was traded
to Purefoods
in the same week.
Prior to being drafted in the PBL, CT competed in the 2009 Flex Unity
Cup where he suited up as Point
Guard for the Oracle Titans. While with the Titans, he helped the
squad capture their 7th straight PBL Championship. As one of their key
players, CT also nabbed the Finals MVP trophy. With a rather quiet, but
strong disposition he is a true point guard in nature. As a student of
the game and of other point guards, onlookers have compared him to the
likes of NBA stars like Chris
Paul and Tim Hardaway. Chris prides himself on
observation, lots of discipline, good old fashioned hard work and prayer
to get him to the next level.
He previously played for the Toyota Sparks, also in the PBL during
the Flex Linoleum Cup; they failed to advance and decided to take a
hiatus for the next conference. CT was acquired by the Titans during the
dispersal draft.
College basketball
careerCT attended the University of North Florida
under a full athletic scholarship. Under Head
Coach Matt Kilcullen, Chris started as point guard all 4 years and
captain of the team for 2 years. Chris came at the right time as he
helped the team transition from a NCAA DII school into NCAA DI. His
personal achievements at UNF are incalculable. He still holds the school
records for total number of games played, total number of games
started, total number of minutes played, total number of career
steals, total number of career 3pts made, total number of 3 pts
attempted, he is second in career assists and 4th player to be inducted
into the 1000 pts club.
CT graduated in 2008 with a BA in Sociology and a minor in Religious Studies.
Personal lifeChris is from Miami, Florida where he attended Dr. Michael Krop Senior High
School. He is the first basketball player from his school to receive
a full athletic scholarship. He is the youngest of four children. His
mother and sister still reside in Miami. Chris also has a half brother
and sister who live in the Philippines. In his spare time he
enjoys...what else? Basketball! He also likes to eat, listen to music,
read and spend time with his family in Bamban, Tarlac.
