Brandon Lee Kaui Cablay is a Filipino American professional
basketball
player currently playing for the Alaska Aces in the Philippine Basketball
Association. He started his career in the PBA in 2003 as a member of
the Alaska Aces. He would win his first PBA
championship in the 2003 PBA Invitational Conference, wherein Cablay was
named Finals MVP. He was acquired by the Beermen from the Aces in
exchange for Nic Belasco.
Cablay was traded by the Beermen to Purefoods at the start of the 2007-08 PBA season. He was then
signed as a free agent by his former team the Alaska Aces.
He was actually part of the
Larry Fonacier trade that involved San Miguel and Red Bull but the
Barakos have already filled up the off-guard spot that's why they can no
longer accommodate this 2003 Slam Dunk champion.
The 33rd season of the league was about to open in a week and Cablay
remained without a team. Fortunately, Purefoods traded for him and in
return gave a future second round pick to the Barakos. This will be
Cablay's third team in five seasons and Gregorio hopes that the 6-0
high-leaper would give them quality games.
