A few were surprised when Alaska tabbed him fifth overall in the 2009 rookie draft. The six-foot-five Fil-Swiss forward never had a dominating campaign in the Philippine Basketball League while playing for Pharex but coach Tim Cone has the knack for talent.
Cone reminds Burtcher of a young Rudy Hatfield who loves to hustle and play defense although the rookie has limited offensive skills. But scoring won�t be his main role in the team as Cone wants him to be a spark off the bench on defense.
