The Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday signed Evan Turner, the second overall selection in the NBA draft, team president Ed Stefanski said.
Turner averaged 20.3 points, 9.2 rebounds and 5.9 assists while leading Ohio State University into the round of 16 in the NCAA collegiate tournament.
The 21-year-old left Ohio State after his third year, and was expected to be ready to contribute in the NBA quickly.
He is expected to start at shooting guard for the Sixers.
Turner will be paid at least 3,835,600 dollars in the first year of his contract, 4,123,200 dollars in the second, and 4,410,900 dollars if Philadelphia pick up his third-year option.
