Thai import Jaroensri Bualee put on another dazzling performance to power the Excelroof-backed San Sebastian College-Recoletos to a 25-22, 25-17, 26-24 win over Ateneo and into the solo lead of the 7th Shakey's V-League Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.
The 26-year-old Bualee, who averaged 19 points in the squad's past two games, drilled a game-high 20 hits as SSC-Excelroof coasted to its third straight win.
The Lady Eagles slipped to 2-1.
With Bualee, a former Thailand national team mainstay, dropping bombs and getting her teammates involved in every which way, the SSC lasses repelled Ateneo’s determined challenge.
"Before the game (against Ateneo), I knew we can beat them in this way (straight set)," Bualee said in broken English. "We played tough and they also had a bad night."
Save for some anxious moments in the third set, the SSC lasses were in full command, building leads as high as 10 – big thanks also to their tough defensive effort that produced 10 blocks against Ateneo's five.
