MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 4.9 earthquake jolted parts of Mindanao early this morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the epicenter of the quake, which was recorded around 4:48 a.m., was traced 90 kilometers southwest of Cotabato City.
But the agency pointed out that the tremor, tectonic in origin, had no report of intensities as it was deep underground.
Last night, Phivolcs also recorded a quake around 6:40 p.m. in some parts of Mindanao. The tremor’s epicenter was traced 24 kilometers of Talakag, Bukidnon.
The magnitude-3.6 earthquake was felt in Malasag, Cagayan de Oro City, at intensity 2, Phivolcs said.
