DEFENDING champion Ateneo will have to wait a little longer before it finally gets a crack at Adamson University in the Final Four of the 73rd University Athletic Association of the Philippines men’s basketball tournament.
The Blue Eagles and the Falcons got the longer end of the revised Final Four schedule, which set the Ateneo-Adamson showdown at 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Far Eastern University Tamaraws, who topped the eliminations after beating the Blue Eagles, 74-72, last Saturday, took the shorter end of the schedule.
The Tamaraws are scheduled to meet the De La Salle Green Archers 4 p.m. on Thursday, three days before the Ateneo-Adamson tiff.
“Grabe ang talent ng team na ito,” said FEU coach Glenn Capacio. “They are a young team and we have to be well-prepared against their energy.”
The Tamaraws last met the Green Archers in the Final Four in 2008. They will be out to avenge a 62-67 setback which booted FEU out of contention for the finals.
On the other hand, Ateneo meets Adamson for only the second time in the semis since 2006 where the Blue Eagles emerged finalists at the Falcons’ expense.
“It’s going to be difficult. Our games have always been close,” said Ateneo coach Norman Black.
