Manila, Philippines - Controversial beauty queen Venus Raj, the reigning Bb. Pilipinas-Universe who went on to place 4th in the recently-concluded Miss Universe, is on her way to becoming an actress.
Just recently, Raj signed on for a role in a series tentatively titled “Beauty Queen” for GMA-7. Reportedly co-starring with Raj in the project are Iza Calzado and Gloria Diaz, herself a former beauty queen.
It was director Joel Lamangan, who divulged in a tabloid interview, that the series will occupy the time slot of soon-to-end hit, “Endless Love.” Lamangan will also be directing the series.
That said, the multi-tasking Raj is not limiting herself to acting.
During a recent meeting with the press, she also intimated a plan to enter politics. “I'm open to that," said she.
"Actually, noong nasa Bicol ako, nag-run ako sa town lang namin, pero hindi ako nanalo kasi bata pa ako."
Asked about the priorities she would take on if ever elected to a government post, the 22-year-old beauty queen said she would she would push for the recognition of people who bring honor to the country.
More, she would also ask for additional budget for the training of aspiring beauty queens.
Only last month the Senate adopted a resolution congratulating and commending Miss Philippines Venus Raj for winning at the 2010 Miss Universe Pageant.
Senator Manuel "Lito" Lapid, who sponsored Senate Resolution No. 140, said Raj more than deserved it.
"This honor brought by our Filipino beauty queen deserves to be commended for the pride and recognition she brought our country," Lapid said.
