MANILA PHILIPPINES- Far Eastern University coach Glenn Capacio sees Game2 as a test of character for his team when they try to prevent the Ateneo from a winning a rare three peat on Thursday.
Crushed by the way the Tamaraws went down on all fours in Saturday 72-49 rout in the series opener,Capacio hopes his squad will have a rude awakening when they try to force a rubbermatch for the UAAP crown.
"Dito masusubok ang character namin." said Capacio."Natisod kami kaagad at nagkaroon kmi agad ng experience na maglaro sa finals so sana makarecover kami.'
FEU has been dealt numerous dissapointments in the Final four and the Finals since winning its last crown in 2005.
The most frustrating came last season when the Tams,at the heigth of the contreversial outster of Smart Gilas team member Mark Baroca from the team, were stunned by the University Of The East despite a twice to beat advantage.
The Morayta based squad entered the series with the best record at 12 wins and 2 loses,The league Most Valuable Player RR Garcia,Rookie Of the Year Terrence Romeo and Mythical Five member Aldrech Ramos
But their reputation as a team that struggles in the games that mattered most quickly revisited, making just 27 percent their shots(170f 63)had just nine assist and allowed Ateneo to shoot 47 percent (29-61)
Garcia had quiet 11 point output to lead FEU in scoring,Romeo came up with 10 markers although seven of those came in the second half when the contest was already in the bag while Ramos was outplayed by the Ateneo bigman despite having 6points and 11 boards.
Paul Sanga, who played hero role in the Tams Final Four win over La Salle, went scoreless as he muffed all of his six shots.
If FEU wins Game2,a rubbermatch will be held on Saturday for the title. The Tamaraws are shooting for a record 20th basketball title.
