SAN BEDA center Sudan Daniel was named the Accel-Filoil NCAA Press Corps Player of the Week after he led the Red Lions to two impressive wins which moved them closer in clinching an outright finals berth in the NCAA seniors basketball tournament.
The 6-foot-6 Daniel collected 14 points and 19 boards for San Beda to score a 74-56 triumph over Letran last Friday.
The Red Lions improved to 15-0 and equal San Sebastian College’s feat last season, where the Stags raced to 15 straight wins.
Daniel collected 15 rebounds and two blocks in San Beda’s 78-46 thumping of Jose Rizal University last Monday.
In those two victories, Daniel averaged 10 points, 17 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1.5 assists and a steal per game.
Daniel beat his teammate Garvo Lanete and Arellano University’s Adrian Celada for the weekly honors supported by Terrilicious meat products in Gatorade.
It was the fourth time that Daniel won the player of the week award given by the country’s sportswriters from the country’s leading broadsheets and tabloids.
