Baser Amer, one of the most talented high school players today, isn’t going anywhere.
The reigning NCAA juniors basketball Most Valuable Player has decided to stay with San Beda and play for the newly-crowned champion Red Lions beginning next season.
This was confirmed by Red Lions coach Frankie Lim.
“Yes, he is already assured of a spot in our team and he will take the place vacated by Borgie Hermida," Lim told GMANews.TV.
Hermida, the team's topnotch guard who played a pivotal role in the Red Lions’ perfect season, is set to see action for the Barako Bull Energy Boosters in the PBA.
The Red Lions regained the championship after defeating the San Sebastian Stags. It was the Mendiola-based squad’s fourth championship in the last five years.
Lim is excited to establish a dynasty in the country’s oldest collegiate cage league.
“We have almost an intact line-up so we pretty much like our chances next season," said Lim, also the team manager of the RP-Smart Gilas national developmental team.
Amer is an excellent playmaker. He recorded a season-high 18 assists for the Red Cubs in the first game of the juniors finals, and has posted triple doubles not a few times.
Aside from Amer, Lim is also looking at Christopher Javier and Von Chavez
