MANILA, Philippines - Five of those alleged to have taken part in the fraternity hazing that killed University of Makati student EJ Carl Intia have surrendered to police authorities on Sunday.
All 5 are facing violations of the Anti-Hazing Law. Those charged are John Reynald Marin, Roesel Wenceslao, both 18 years old; Michael Pagulayan, 19 years old, Rico Mansalapus, 31 years old, and one minor.
Relatives and friends of the victim are not contended however, because not all of those who participated in the hazing and dumping of the body of EJ, have been found and arrested.
Initial investigation showed that the hazing rites took place at an apartment at Mayapis Street in Barangay San Antonio, Makati.
A neighbor said he thought the group was just having a party.
Authorities said some of those who took part in the hazing have sent surrender feelers.
EJ's body was found in a ravine in Famy, Laguna.
The victim had a fractured skull and bore bruises and wounds, a sign that Intia had suffered from paddling during initiation rites.
The Makati Police has confirmed that the Alpha Phi Omega (APO) fraternity was behind the hazing.
